Attention: new link posted for this great piece of work
Heres another Vol. Of them Fairy Tales!
Don't be surprised when you hear xylophone's, birds, organs & crickets as they sure come in handy when it comes to making sweet music!
I want thank RB & G-Man for helping me find The Whispers
track later realizing it's on The Soul Train Gang LP which I have so I'm not sure it was re done by the Soul Train Gang, so until I have a chance to play that LP I will assume this version are the Whispers with Carrie Lucas.....
Thanks for another awsome cover RB :)
Download & Enjoy & of course I want your comments after you listen!, Enjoy!
Some 411 on some of these tunes, as always corrections are welcomed...
01. The Whispers/ Carrie Lucas - Fairytales
1975 - Soul Train Label
02. Lola & The Saints - I'm On The Outside Looking In
1985 Clifton Records, from the Bronx
Lola started singing professionally, in 1964
She sang lead and/or background with many doowop groups
but has reunited with "The Saints" in 2005 and is enjoying every Doo Wop minute.
03. Hancock Brothers - Cricket In The Dark
04. 21st Creation - Girls Lets Keep Dancing Close
1978 - Gordy Label,
05. Arthur Conley - Take A Step
1969 - Atlantic, from Alanta, Ga.
he started singing at age 12, His mentor was Otis Redding,
His Idol was Sam Cooke, he was co-writer of the 1967 classic "Sweet Soul Music",
06. The Adventurers - I've Caught You Cheating
70's - Music World records, AKA The Chosen Few
07. Charmels - I've Done It Again
Volt Records AKA (THE Tonettes) AKA (The Dixiebelles)
They evolved into The Charmels in 1966 when Black Moses himself, Isaac Hayes took the band under his wing, tho I found this interesting as this group started off as 3 white females ending with 4 Black females...both sounded great and I love this joint!
08. Candace Love - Uh! Uh! Boy, That's A No No
1969 - Aquarius
09. Kitty & Her Kats - Tell Me Pretty Baby
no yr - Coulee
10. Richard Dimples Fields - Guess Who I Saw Today
11. Shirelles - Oh No Not My Baby
1964 with the group's members alternating leads, an approach which had rendered the song unreleasable, by each [group member] taking their own lead, no one knew any more where the real melody stood." long story short Maxine Brown recorded her vocal over the Shirelles' track with the group's vocals erased; Dee Dee Warwick provided the harmony vocal on the chorus. IMHO I think the Shirelles did a great version!
12. Transfer - Get A Transfer
13. Blue Magic - Take A Long Last Look
1989 - OBR Columbia, aka Shades of Love formed in Philadelphia
In 1972 to present, This track is From Out of the Blue CD
14. The Vosonics - I'll Never Fall In Love
1983 - Top Flight
15. X-Ceptions - High On A Hill
16. Thee Midniters - Love Makes Me Do Foolish Things
Off Thee Complete Midniters Songs of Love Box set
17. Bertha Ordapeza & Ruben Hernandez - The Bells
18. Buddy Sheppard & The Holidays - Now It's All Over
1963 - Sabina, New York, Bronx
AKA The Standards AKA Tony and The Holidays
19. Frank Hooker & Positive People - Early In The Morning
1981 - Panorama Records
20. Suzy & The Copycats - Come Back To Me
1961 - Brent
21. Notations - Ebony Eyes
Off their "Baby I Like Your Style" CD
An above-average Chicago soul group who could never get a breakout hit
Only 2 of their songs made it to the top 30
22. Johnny O'Keefe - Cry Cry Baby
1963 - Leedon Label, Born John Michael O'Keefe in Sydney, Australia
AKA J.O.K. & The Wild One, and that he was...
23. The Creations - You Mean So Much To Me
24. The Presidents - Girl You Cheated On Me
A sweet soul group from Washington, D.C., they scored with the infectious "5-10-15-20 (25-30 Years Of Love) written by Van McCoy
My last track is a cover version of this infectious song...
25. Gangsters - 5-10-15-20-25-30 Years Of Love
1982 - Heat AKA Chicago Gangsters
