When the Generalissimo G MAN barks out an order, a poor grunt like me doesn’t have a lot of choice. And part of me was jaw-droppingly awe-struck at the sheer enormity and audacity of the plan. How come I never think of such schemes ? Maybe that’s why he’s the Generalissimo and I’m the grunt ! “24 rolas by 24 different people in 24 hours … the mightiest group collaboration ever !” he said (OK, I made up the last part, the time-scale required was actually a few days longer ….). “I’ve done all the hard work already; here’s a magnificent cover !” “But the familia is real busy”, I replied, quite reasonably. “P-STYLZE has the Little League team;  MELLO has to polish his ranfla; some people even have to work !” “No excuses; just get it done ! And remember these have to be prime cuts; never seen on a comp before; or if slightly familiar, of undisputed quality !” Whew ! That’s a tall order; remember the G MAN is a Big Guy. So I used all my skills – whining, pleading and bribery; called in all my markers and cast the net wider than wide across the globe to come up with the 24 tracks presented. Many thanks to the extended crew for coming thru’ with the goods, and saving my *ss. And, please, no comments, especially positive ones, this time – I don’t want to go through this again any time soon. Don’t give the Big Guy any encouragement !
