People where are the comments at? Am I getting the message that most people that frequent this site don't appreciate it? Is the quality of music getting lame? Are we running out of those killer oldiez that U dig? Holler back at me people and let me know what you think. If we've hit the ceiling and this site isn't needed anymore let me know so I can claim some of my free time back and close this baby down. If we continue to get few if any comments I'll have to interpret that for myself and make the corresponding decision.
[And of course this is no way directed to the faithful few that leave more than their fair share of feedback.]

Hi G-Man, Well done for the well-aimed kick in the behind at us ungrateful listeners. I'm guilty myself but I've added a few comments this morning after spending the last 2 days listening to the latest few compilations. I grab 'em while they're there (just in case they disappear) and listen later when I get a little free time. and sho' nuff i hear what you're saying - Folk ain't appreciating the hard work and long hours of research etc
that you're puttin' in to satisfy the needs of others (like myself!!)...now PLEASE - don't go down the road of
shuttin' down and turning your back on those that are blind crippled 'n' crazy (nice one O.V.). On a one on one -
i appreciate your dedication to the packages that you throw my way - after 40-odd years of being at peace with soul music,
it's a breathe of fresh air to be introduced to so many rare tracks that have given me hours of enjoyment and will forever
leave lasting memories of those unknown sounds that you have painsakingly put together. Believe me when i say that along with

I appreciate everything you all put out, back in the 60's, 70's & up to mid 80's I owned the majority of what you put out. Had to sell my collection of 10,000 singles & 1500 lps due to divorce. This is my way of reconnecting to them.

On the issue of lack of comments on this blog and really on most blogs I've seen - please be assured that EVERYTHING posted here is MUCH appreciated by everyone. There is no question of the rarity of the music. I would also hope downloaders understand how much time is taken to bring all this here for us. I've done a little oldies radio work and I certainly am aware of the time it takes to pick out the songs and to try to play things that haven't been played before,then to arrange them into a sensible order. On top of that, I'm always astounded with the research done (especially by Rose) with the tunes and artists!
ReplyDeleteBecause I've experienced the following, I'm wondering if others have also and if thats the reason for the lack of comments. Like most people, I have a busy life. I'll download the comp. posted then it is usually days or weeks before I can get around to burning it. Then, it's usually more time until I actually have the opportunity to play it or transfer it to my car to listen to while I'm driving. I can't recall a comp. posted here that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed but by the time I listen to it, so much time has passed and many more comps. posted in the meantime, it feels like it's too late to say anything. Not that the praise isn't due and I have gone back and made comments at times. I know, I know....I should be more attentive to giving thanks. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same things.
I do many other blogs also and I know that the comments are few and far between but believe me, you can be certain we are out here playing your comps. over & over again and loving every damn one! I was without a computer last month and when I got back on, the blogs were the first place I went to see what I had missed.
Most times things like this become a "labor of love" but we are out here listening and appreciating everything you ALL do! THANK YOU!

ReplyDeleteHad to agree with Soulin's comment. I remember when I was young I had the time to get bored! Now at middle age and time is completely full with family, work, chasing a living - sneaking off to download good music is a luxury! I download now just in case I miss the album, and listen at a later date. So many tunes, so little time...

My thing is....you put out sooooo many great joints to listen to ....I'm still listening to the previous ones....like stuck on them !!
