- New Link Updated 12/26/13 -

Hello music lovers & hopefully some Doowop lovers...I present to you my second Volume of "StarDust Melodiez" This song "StarDust" happens to be one of my old time classics so this is why I chosed the title, It is also one of my screen names in other places on the internet along with LadySoul...I know, I know....a lady of many names :) I Hope you enjoy this compilation & savor the tunes I chosed for it, Enjoy....

I want to thank RossyBoy for his creation on my cover, as always he does it so well !
I 've included some info. on some of these gems & as usual corrections are always welcomed

01. The Three Degrees - Stardust1970 - Roulette02. The Candlelights - I'm Without A Boyfriend1962 - Aries03. The Modern Ink Spots - Together (In Your Arms)1962 - Rust, aka The Equadors
This song was written By Kenny Gamble who also wrote The Dreamlovers "Together and, wait for it!....Also The Intruders - "Together"! (All differant versions of course)
04. The Stereos - Echoes In My Heart1962 - Columbia, from Steubenvill, Ohio, aka The Buckeyes (Ohio's nickname)
05. Diane & The Darlettes - Just You1963 - Dunes, later renamed The Sweet Things
Now here was a group started by Francine "Peaches" Hurd Barker of Peaches & Herb so I assume Diane Christian joined the group after Peaches left to team up with Herb...
06. The Harptones - That's What I Need1982 - Ambient Sound, formed in Manhattan in 1953
One of my favorite doowop groups which I find hard to believe
The Apollo Theater audience literally were booing them off the stage
in the early 50's..
07. Alton Ellis - Stop A WhileRecord Specialists (JA) From the album Still in Love,1996 Trojan UK
One of the first vocalists to enter the Jamaican music business, Alton Ellis was generally revered as the greatest and most soulful singer the country ever produced -- that is, until Bob Marley came along.
08. The Angels - Thank You And Goodnight1963 - Smash, This group originated in New Jersey as The Starlets.
The Angels most famous for the hit "My Boyfriend's Back"...
This song was also favorable and charted at #84 US. During their Smash career
09. The Desires - Cold Lonely Heart1958 - Herald 53210. Curtis Lee - Gee How I Wish You Were Here1961 - Dunes, from Yuma, Arizona, better known for (Pretty Little Angel Eyes) A beneficiary of a 1961 production by Phil Spector,
After Spector fell out with Dunes in 1961, Lee never had another hit although he made some highly regarded ‘blue-eyed soul’ records in the late 60s.
11. The Hot Tamales - Mr. Starlight1964 - Detroit Label, I don't believe this group was from Detroit but was a East Coast group until I read that Detroit was a New England (Massachusetts label), so now I believe, that the group was also from... who knows???12. Jerry Sharell & The Cameos - Everybody Knows1960 - Alanna
13. The Starlets - Please Ring My Phone1958 - Checker 895, AKA The Gems14. Alton Ellis (with John Holt) - So Long BabyThese two artist were from Jamaica,
She was Jamaica's First Lady Of Songs, she passed away in 2000
John Holt was lead singer of The Paragons and By the early 1970s, he was one of the biggest stars of reggae...In 1954 Shirley & Lee originally released this song but was titled - "Lee Goofed"
15. The - Springers - Love I Share1965 - Wale Records (Prev Unreleased) from Cleveland, OH
Another group that went by the same name were from PA
16. The Cameos - Never Before1960 - Matador 1813, There were about 3 Cameos groups..
A cute young white doowop group from Jersey, another white group from Pittsburgh, Pa,
This black Cameos group were also from Pittsburgh, Pa
17. Gene & Wendell (With The Sweethearts) - From Me To You1961 - RAY STAR 777, Gene Washington and Wendell Jones
from Los Angeles, Also known for The Roach Song ("Kill That Roach")
from the same year...

24. The Values - Return To Me (Slower Beat Version)1962 - Ember issued, 2 Invicta labels as a single
This record was nearly three years old by the time Ember issued it, the Invicta
singles were reviewed in Billboard Sept, 1, 1962. I chose the slower version altho I love the upbeat version too!
25. Danny Stewart (Viscaynes) - A Long Time Alone1961 - Luke-1008, AKA Sylvester Stewart
Real name of Sly Stone of Sly & the Family Stone, Born in Denton, Texas...His first recording was at the age of four, Stone also was a disc jockey for San Francisco R&B radio station KSOL... One of his high school musical groups was a doo-wop act called The Viscaynes, in which he and a Filipino teenager were the only non-white members. The Viscaynes released a few local singles, and Sylvester recorded several solo singles under the name "Danny Stewart".
